We’re off to see Michelle Dewberry
Glenn's Ramblings April 24th, 2007
Keiron and I have a little outing planning in a couple of weeks time. We’re off to see the lovely Michelle Dewberry. For those of you not in the UK, she won last year’s BBC Apprentice television show. She’s now coming to town for a literature festival - or the miserable old sceptics, to plug her new book (shame on you!).
It is fair to say, both my wife and Keiron’s fiancĂ©e raised an eye brow or two when we said we were going. Clearly we’re going along to listen to her experiences of working for Alan Sugar (now his auto-biography is good, read it years ago when at college) and her business acumen and has nothing to do with the fact we both fancied her when she was on the show (perish the thought we would be so crude).
It also gives us the chance to have a cheeky beer before and afterwards. I am sure we’ll report back on the evening - assuming we don’t get too drunk and forget
Edit: Just thought I’d add a link to Michelle’s Book, Anything is Possible for anyone that is interested, Keiron

Well I thought I better report back (because we didn’t get so drunk we’d forget - although it was a slightly late one!).
Personally I found Michelle very likeable from the minute she came on stage, asking whether she could put her glasses on because she couldn’t see anybody and felt like she was talking to herself.
Michelle, was likeable, funny and ultimately quite down to earth about her experiences from her tough childhood, to applying for the apprentice (and thinking she was going to work for Branson!).
She gave opinions on education, politics and women in the workplace, before discussing her charity work, her hobbies and her plans for the future - several times telling the interviewer she hadn’t finished yet and was going to continue!
She did ask one thing though - that none of us judge a book by it’s cover, as she thinks she looks like Joanna Lumley on the cover!

She was lovely. Very personable and not forgetting good looking, she made it a very pleasant evening out. Slightly disappointing that there was not as much business talk as I would have liked, but all the same it was interesting to hear about her background.
Interestingly, the said that although the way The Apprentice is filmed is different to the way it’s shown. When watching it makes it seem like it lasts 12 weeks, i.e. one per candidate. However it only takes two months in reality. The tasks can sometimes run back to back, other times there are several days between the last and next task.
The producers also film two endings showing Alan Sugar telling both final candidates they have one. Then both work for him for a couple of months while the show is being edited and aired. Then Alan Sugar chooses based on the tasks and how they have been working for him.
Just goes to show that TV is not what it might seem.
